Woman accused of shooting man in chest near Verlot

In a serious case of suspected domestic violence, a woman shot her boyfriend in the chest during a heated argument at their residence near Verlot, about 12 miles east of Granite Falls. The incident occurred around 7:20 PM on Tuesday, prompting a swift medical response that transported the 43-year-old man to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. He suffered a gunshot wound to the upper left of his chest but is expected to survive. The 46-year-old woman involved was arrested and is currently detained in the Snohomish County Jail, facing investigation for first-degree domestic violence assault. Alarmingly, a 1-year-old boy was present in the home during the shooting, raising additional concerns regarding child safety.

Detectives are conducting further investigations, but the weapon used in the shooting has not yet been recovered. This incident highlights the pressing issue of domestic violence in the community, prompting calls for enhanced resources and support for victims.
