Tulalip man given intermittent prison time for crash that killed friend
In a tragic case, Danny Simpson, a Tulalip tribal member, received a sentence of one year of intermittent confinement for causing the death of his friend Anthony Craig in a drunken driving accident on February 1, 2020. Simpson drove his 1977 Ford F-250 truck, modified for off-road use, after drinking at a local bar. The truck had only one working brake, which contributed to the accident when it veered off a poorly lit cliff into a gravel pit owned by Simpson's parents, resulting in Craig's untimely death. Toxicology reports revealed that Simpson had a blood alcohol concentration of 0. 13, well above the legal limit, along with benzodiazepines.
The assistant U. S. attorney expressed the profound loss felt by Craig's family, emphasizing that he would never again be able to participate in his son's life. Since the incident, Simpson has sought rehabilitation and expressed deep remorse for his actions, wishing to be a positive influence for his children. This case serves as a stark reminder of the severe repercussions of impaired driving, affecting not only those involved but also their families and communities.
