This weekend, significant traffic closures are scheduled on the Interstate 405 corridor in Washington, prompting officials to advise drivers to plan accordingly. The Washington State Department of Transportation has announced full directional closures starting Friday night, specifically affecting the Bothell and Renton areas. In Bothell, the closures will impact northbound I-405 from State Route 522 to State Route 527, as part of the I-405/Brickyard to SR 527 Improvement Project. The affected northbound on- and off-ramps include the eastbound/westbound SR 522 on-ramps, Northeast 195th Street/Beardslee Boulevard ramps, and the SR 527 off-ramp. Meanwhile, in Renton, southbound I-405 will also see closures, further complicating the weekend commute.

These closures align with local sporting events, including games featuring the UW Huskies and Seahawks, which are expected to draw large crowds. Traffic officials emphasize that these closures will create significant challenges for drivers. Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes and allow extra travel time during the weekend.
