Feels-like temps soar to 100 degrees in Boston with risk of severe storms

Boston, MALocal News

Boston and much of New England will experience extreme heat on Thursday, with feels-like temperatures soaring between 95 and 100 degrees ahead of summer's official start. The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for eastern and central Massachusetts, excluding the South Coast, where temperatures will remain cooler due to coastal winds. StormTeam 5 chief meteorologist Cindy Fitzgibbon indicated that high humidity will create a tropical atmosphere, making it feel significantly hotter. Thunderstorms are anticipated in the evening, particularly west of Interstate 495, raising concerns about damaging winds and hail. This weather pattern has prompted StormTeam 5 to label Thursday as an Impact Weather Day.

Following the storms, temperatures are expected to drop into the 80s, with humidity levels decreasing significantly. By Friday, dew points will fall below 60 degrees, contributing to a more pleasant day. However, humidity will rise again into the weekend, signaling a return to uncomfortable conditions next week.
