Mayor Michelle Wu and Boston's Office of Youth Engagement celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Mayor's Youth Council (MYC), a program that has empowered nearly 1,000 high school students since its launch in 1995. The anniversary event brought together notable alumni, current Councilors, and supporters, highlighting the Council's significant impact on youth leadership and civic engagement. Current Councilors received awards for their achievements, while participants expressed pride in their contributions. Youth Councilor Miracle Ebbi shared her excitement about the planning process and connecting with alumni. The MYC has organized town halls, service projects, and awareness campaigns that address challenges faced by Boston's youth.

This year, Councilors also focused on peer-led focus groups to enhance findings from the "Youth Speaks Boston" needs assessment. Pedro Cruz, Executive Director of OYEA, emphasized the importance of youth voices in shaping policy and community engagement. The Mayor’s Youth Council continues to serve as a launchpad for young leaders in Boston.
