Mayor Wu Announces Citys Black History Month Programming

In a celebration of Black History Month, Mayor Michelle Wu and the City of Boston’s Equity & Inclusion Cabinet have announced a series of events themed “African Americans and Labor. ” This programming is designed to honor and engage the community in recognizing the significant contributions of Black residents throughout the city’s history. Key events include a flag-raising ceremony at Boston City Hall, a gallery reception showcasing the work of African Diaspora artists, and a community skate night aimed at connecting youth. City officials, including Chief of Equity & Inclusion Mariangley Solis Cervera, emphasized the historical role of Black workers in advocating for fair wages and workers’ rights, reinforcing the importance of equity in Boston’s future. Additionally, various prominent buildings will be lit in the colors red, yellow, and green to mark the start of the month.
