Mayor Michelle Wu inaugurated improvements to Chandler Pond in Brighton, marking a $990,600 investment in ecological restoration and community access. The project focuses on shoreline stabilization, invasive species removal, and native plantings, enhancing the pond's ecological health and recreational value. Interim Parks Commissioner Cathy Baker-Eclipse emphasized the importance of community involvement and partnerships with organizations like Boston College and the Friends of Chandler Pond. The first phase of the project, which covers one-third of the shoreline, aims to strengthen the landscape for long-term health. Funding sources include the Community Preservation Act, which contributed $575,000, and the American Rescue Plan Act.

This initiative signifies a commitment to preserving Brighton’s natural resources for future generations. The design work was led by Kyle Zick Landscape Architecture, while construction was completed by SumCo Eco-contracting. The improvements also lay the groundwork for ongoing water quality monitoring to ensure the pond’s resilience.
