Applications Open for Spooky Streets and Fall and Harvest Grant

Boston, MALocal News

Mayor Michelle Wu announced the opening of applications for the Spooky Streets Grant Program, allowing Boston residents and community organizations to apply for $300 mini-grants to support Halloween and Fall block parties. This initiative builds on the Mayor's commitment to enhancing community engagement and providing safe, fun programming for families. Last summer, the Mayor’s Office awarded 110 grants totaling $61,700 to support block parties across 18 neighborhoods. With funding from the Cummings Foundation, this year's program aims to expand its reach and empower communities to celebrate together. Block parties must be free and open to the public, taking place from October 24 to November 2, and cannot be hosted in parks or private lots.

Residents must first apply for a Play Street Closing Permit before seeking the mini-grant. Feedback from past participants highlights the positive impact of grants on community bonding and festive spirit. The streamlined application process aims to enhance the experience for constituents and speed up approvals.
