Tip ONeill Tunnel southbound will be closed Tuesday night

The southbound lanes of I-93 in the Tip O’Neill Tunnel will close for maintenance from 11 p. m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19, until 5 a. m.

on Wednesday. The closure will begin at exit 20 (Sullivan Square) and will also affect access points from Route 1, Storrow Drive, and other tunnel on-ramps; however, access from Albany Street will remain open. Crews will engage in multiple maintenance activities, prompting MassDOT to guide drivers with appropriate signage and law enforcement details. Motorists should anticipate delays and are advised to reduce speed and exercise caution while traveling through the work area. MassDOT emphasized that all scheduled work is weather-dependent and may change without notice.
