Brian Walshe wants evidence dismissed ahead of his upcoming murder trial
Brian Walshe, a Massachusetts man, stands accused of murdering and dismembering his wife, Ana Walshe, who vanished from their Cohasset home in January 2023. In preparation for his trial, Walshe requested the court to limit the admission of incriminating online searches, including queries related to body disposal. Prosecutors assert these searches were conducted shortly after Ana's disappearance, while the defense argues they were obtained without a valid warrant. They also filed a motion to dismiss, claiming the grand jury did not receive enough evidence to support a first-degree murder charge based on premeditation or cruelty. In Massachusetts, proving first-degree murder requires evidence of either premeditation or extreme atrocity.
The defense and prosecution are also in discussions regarding DNA testing and records from investigators involved in the case. Notably, one investigator faced termination prior to a related trial, raising questions about the integrity of the investigation. Brian Walshe's trial is set to begin on October 20, 2025.
