All-way stop coming to State Road 45 in Bloomington

Bloomington, INLocal News

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is preparing to enhance traffic safety at the intersection of State Road 45 and Smith Road in Bloomington by installing an all-way stop, beginning on or after March 28, 2025. The installation process is expected to be completed in one day, weather permitting, and will include the addition of stop ahead advance warning signs and flashers. This initiative is designed to reduce the likelihood of right-angle crashes, which can often result in severe injuries and property damage. To further improve visibility for drivers, INDOT has also conducted sight distance management work at the intersection. Motorists are urged to approach the area with caution as they familiarize themselves with the new traffic control measures.

INDOT emphasizes the importance of slowing down and avoiding distractions when navigating through work zones. All scheduled work is contingent on weather conditions, and any changes to the timeline will be communicated. This proactive measure underscores INDOT's commitment to enhancing road safety for all users.
