Applications Sought for Houseless Services Funding
In a significant effort to address homelessness exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bend City Council has launched a Houseless Services Grant Program, allocating approximately $2. 6 million from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). This program aims to support community-based organizations in providing essential services, including safe parking operations and shelter services for those in need. Applications will open on November 7, 2024, and will remain open until the funds are fully contracted or until December 7, 2024. Key project types eligible for funding include outreach and case management for unsheltered individuals, as well as housing-focused prevention services.
This initiative reflects the City Council's commitment to addressing homelessness and enhancing local support systems. Senior Program Manager Amy Fraley highlighted the grant's flexibility in funding various shelter types while ensuring accountability through data reporting. The City of Bend has received a total of $14. 08 million in ARPA funding, with a portion still available for this critical initiative.
