City of Bend Seeks Community Feedback on 100-Acre Urban Growth Boundary Expansion

Bend, ORLocal News

The City of Bend is requesting community feedback on two proposed sites for a one-time Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) expansion, a key initiative under Senate Bill 1537 passed by the state legislature in 2024. The sites under consideration, Jasper Ridge and Caldera Ranch, are strategically located to address the need for affordable housing. An online open house is available until December 4, 2024, providing essential information about the planned housing types, commercial areas, and parks. The expansion mandates that at least 30% of the new housing units be affordable, targeting families earning around 80% of the area median income. Community members are encouraged to participate in the open house and share their thoughts via email or in person at the public hearing on December 4.

For more details and to provide feedback, residents can visit the city's growth management website.
