Former Blaine resident accused of child sex abuse arrested after a decade on the run

Bellingham, WALocal News

Aleksandr Meshkov, 32, was apprehended in Whatcom County after evading capture for over a decade in connection with a child sex abuse case. A warrant for his arrest was issued in 2011 after a child reported being assaulted by him. Following the allegations, Meshkov fled Washington state and severed ties with his family. Recent investigative work by the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office led to his discovery in Missouri, where he was extradited back to Washington. Currently, Meshkov remains in custody at the Whatcom County Jail without bail.

This case emphasizes the commitment of law enforcement to addressing historical child abuse cases. The ongoing investigation may also encourage other victims to come forward. Authorities aim to ensure justice for all victims affected by such crimes.
