Two women were rescued in Okanagan County's North Cascades this week, responding to separate incidents that underscored the dangers of outdoor activities. Naval Air Station Whidbey Island's Search and Rescue team acted swiftly when a 25-year-old woman fell 80 feet on the eastern face of Silver Star Mountain, sustaining serious lacerations to her right leg. The second rescue involved a 48-year-old woman who injured herself on the Pacific Crest Trail and called for assistance. Both women were airlifted to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham, where they are in stable condition.

These rescues emphasize the importance of safety measures for hikers in rugged terrains. Incidents like these serve as reminders of the potential hazards in outdoor adventures. Local authorities encourage hikers to be well-prepared and aware of their surroundings. The Search and Rescue teams continue to provide critical support for outdoor enthusiasts in the region.
