Bellingham-based seafood distributer Bornstein Seafoods recalls over 44,000 lbs. of shrimp over possible Listeria contamination
Bornstein Seafoods has issued a recall for over 44,000 pounds of shrimp due to potential Listeria contamination, the FDA reported. The affected product, cooked and peeled Coldwater Shrimp Meat, is packaged in 1 lb. and 5 lb. plastic bags. These shrimp were distributed to distributors in Washington, California, Oregon, and British Columbia but may also have reached retailers nationwide.
As of now, there have been no reported illnesses connected to the recall. Listeria can cause severe infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Consumers who purchased the shrimp are urged to return it for a full refund. The recall highlights the importance of food safety measures in the seafood industry.
