Protests planned for this weekend in Bellingham and Ferndale

Bellingham will host the No Kings Day of Defiance protest from 3-6 p. m. on June 14 at City Hall, part of a national movement against a military parade in Washington, D. C. The demonstration aims to challenge perceived authoritarianism and corruption linked to President Trump, with organizers committed to non-violence and de-escalation.

The City of Bellingham has issued a special event permit for this gathering. On June 13, the Whatcom County Democratic Socialists of America will hold a rally and march starting at the Ferndale Library, advocating for the rights of undocumented residents. This event will include a sign-making session and an information panel at the library prior to the rally. The military parade commemorates 250 years since the founding of the U. S.

Army and coincides with President Trump’s 79th birthday. Organizers expect significant local participation, reflecting broader national sentiments against military displays. Community members are encouraged to engage peacefully and promote dialogue.
