The Washington State Department of Transportation confirmed two lane closures on southbound I-5 near Bellingham on Thursday to conduct sign maintenance. The right lane will close from 4 a. m. to 11 a. m.

near Bakerview Road, impacting travel between mileposts 258 and 257. Subsequently, the left lane will close from 9 a. m. to 11 a. m.

south of West Smith Road, affecting milepost 261. Motorists should plan for delays and are encouraged to drive carefully to protect road workers. This maintenance work is crucial for maintaining roadway safety and effective signage. The department urges drivers to remain attentive and avoid distractions during their commute. Delays are expected to persist during the closure hours, highlighting the importance of planning ahead.
