The duo became stranded early that morning, prompting a search and rescue operation. A team from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, already engaged in an airborne training exercise, reached them within approximately 20 minutes. Their swift action was crucial in ensuring the safety of the stranded climbers. After the rescue, both mountaineers were transported to PeaceHealth St.

Joseph Medical Center for medical evaluation. The incident highlights the dangers of mountaineering, especially in unpredictable weather conditions.
