Where will the Bellingham Graffiti Rock go? Two potential spots have emerged

Bellingham, WALocal News

The iconic graffiti rock in Bellingham must be relocated due to construction work for a fish passage project, as mandated by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT). Two private property owners have shown interest in the rock, with Timberline Apartments being one potential site. Frank Youngblood, the property owner, reported positive discussions with the City of Bellingham and WSDOT regarding the acquisition. He highlighted the rock's importance as a piece of local history, expressing hope for its future. The second proposed site for the rock is at NorthStar Stone and Landscape Supply, located near the Slater Road exit of I-5.

WSDOT is organizing a stakeholder meeting to provide clarity on the relocation process and has stated it will consider moving the rock to private property, provided it remains a publicly accessible landmark. Although the official deadline for finding a new home has passed, WSDOT will delay any action until it reviews the proposed plans. The outcome of this meeting could determine the rock's future and its role in the community.
