Lynden school bus driver passes away following traffic accident

Annette Lyon, a dedicated Lynden school bus driver since 2021, tragically passed away on May 1 after her bus collided with a white SUV on W. Main Street just before 8 a. m. At the time of the accident, no students were on board the bus, which mitigates the potential for greater tragedy. The driver of the SUV was taken to PeaceHealth St.

Joseph Medical Center, but details regarding their condition remain unclear. The Lynden School District has expressed its condolences, stating that Lyon will be greatly missed by the entire school community. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Lynden Police, who are urging anyone who witnessed the event or has dashcam footage to come forward.
