The funding comes from the state's Climate Commitment Act and aims to enhance salmon spawning habitats by replacing barriers such as seawalls and boulders. NSF has targeted seven coastal areas, including Whatcom and Skagit counties, to reduce obstacles for spawning salmon since 2019. The funding will also offer technical assistance to property owners to help them find the best solutions for their shorelines. This project is expected to make nearly 6.
