National Drug Takeback Day is set for Saturday, April 26, providing an opportunity for Whatcom County residents to dispose of unused medications safely. The event runs from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m.

at various locations. The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office will accept medications at the Birch Bay Library and North Fork Library, while Ferndale Police will collect old prescriptions at their facility on Main Street. This initiative seeks to address the ongoing issue of prescription drug misuse and ensure safe disposal practices. According to the DEA, proper disposal helps prevent environmental contamination and reduces the risk of accidental overdoses. Local law enforcement encourages residents to participate in this no-questions-asked program.
