Bellingham Municipal Court to host Law Day events in April and May

The Bellingham Municipal Court is gearing up to celebrate Law Day with a series of engaging events from April 22 to May 5. Designed to educate the community, these activities will showcase court proceedings, allowing the public to witness the legal process firsthand. Attendees will also have the chance to interact with judges and legal professionals, fostering a deeper understanding of the judiciary. Exciting demonstrations, including canine and drone showcases, will add an interactive element to the experience. Eighth graders from local middle schools will attend specific events, emphasizing the partnership between the court and educational institutions.

Law Day, established by President Dwight Eisenhower in 1958, serves as a vital reminder of the importance of public understanding of the legal system. This initiative reflects the court's commitment to transparency and community engagement. By opening its doors, the Bellingham Municipal Court aims to empower citizens with knowledge about their rights and the workings of the legal system.

Blaine man killed in suspected DUI crash in Custer

A Blaine man died in a suspected DUI crash in Custer on Monday morning. Mark Bunch, 34, lost control of his vehicle on I-5, veering off the road and striking a tree. The accident blocked the highway for approximately 30 minutes.
