Bellingham Cold Storage to be acquired by Michigan-based warehouse giant

Bellingham, WALocal News

Lineage, a Michigan-based warehouse giant, is acquiring Bellingham Cold Storage (BCS) for $42 million, marking a significant development for the region. This acquisition encompasses BCS's Orchard/I-5 warehouse center and Burlington Dry location, which are vital to local industries. Brian Beattie, the President of North America West at Lineage, stated that integrating BCS into their operations will strengthen their ability to serve customers in the Pacific Northwest. BCS has been a cornerstone of the seafood and agriculture sectors since its establishment in 1946, currently providing approximately 1,200 jobs to the community. The acquisition comes shortly after BCS signed a 50-year lease extension with the Port of Bellingham, highlighting the facility's ongoing importance.

Lineage's existing operations in the area, including a public warehouse in Lynden and a fulfillment center in Ferndale, position them well to leverage this new asset. This move could enhance supply chain solutions, benefiting local businesses and consumers alike. Overall, the acquisition represents a strategic investment in the region's economic infrastructure.
