Bellingham realtor Ethan Hunger awarded state-wide recognition
Ethan Hunger, a Bellingham real estate agent, has been awarded the Individual Volunteer Service Award by Serve Washington for his significant contributions to fighting food insecurity. His campaign, Hunger vs Hunger, was launched during the COVID-19 pandemic to raise awareness and funds for the Bellingham Food Bank. Over the years, his efforts have amassed nearly $400,000, showcasing his commitment to the cause. Notably, during an 18-hour day of strenuous exercise, Hunger raised close to $250,000, drawing attention to the pressing issue of food insecurity in Whatcom County. Alarmingly, 20% of residents in the area rely on food bank assistance, underscoring the importance of his work.
The next installment of his fundraising efforts is scheduled for July 19, 2025, continuing his mission to support vulnerable community members. This recognition not only honors Hunger's dedication but also emphasizes the impact of local initiatives in addressing social challenges. His story serves as an inspiration for others to engage in volunteerism and community service.
