Polancos 2-run single gives Seattle a 4-3 win over Houston

Bellingham, WALocal News

On April 7, the Seattle Mariners triumphed over the Houston Astros with a 4-3 victory, halting their three-game losing streak. Jorge Polanco's clutch two-run single in the eighth inning was the game-winner, as it circumvented Houston reliever Bryan Abreu on its way to center field. The Astros had taken a 3-2 lead earlier in the inning, capitalizing on two unearned runs after a misplay by Mariners third baseman Dylan Moore. Mariners pitcher Logan Gilbert showcased his skills, striking out seven batters and allowing just one run over 5 2/3 innings pitched. Jose Altuve's sixth-inning solo home run marked Houston's first hit of the game, but the Astros could not maintain momentum.

Despite Hayden Wesneski's solid seven-inning performance for Houston, the Mariners managed to rally late. The win was particularly significant following the injury of Victor Robles, who dislocated his shoulder the previous game. Looking ahead, Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo is set to face Astros left-hander Framber Valdez in the next matchup.
