AG Nick Brown files three new lawsuits against the Trump Administration

Bellingham, WALocal News

Washington State Attorney General Nick Brown has taken a firm stance against the Trump Administration with the filing of three new lawsuits on April 4, 2025. These legal challenges focus on the administration's proposed cuts to public funding, particularly impacting libraries, medical research, and electoral processes. The first lawsuit, filed alongside 15 other states, contests cuts to grant funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which Brown argues would severely affect the University of Washington’s ability to conduct federally funded research. Another suit, supported by 20 states, targets an executive order that threatens to dismantle three federal agencies, crucial for providing grants to libraries and museums. Additionally, the final lawsuit addresses an executive order that Brown contends would violate constitutional protections and jeopardize voting rights for thousands of residents.

This ongoing legal battle reflects broader concerns over federal policies affecting state governance and public resources. Brown has now filed a total of 11 lawsuits against the Trump Administration since mid-January, highlighting a persistent conflict over state and federal authority. These actions underscore the importance of safeguarding Washington's resources and rights amid significant federal changes.
