ICE arrests 37 workers at Mt Baker Roofing in Bellingham

Bellingham, WALocal News

On April 2, 2025, a significant operation by U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) resulted in the arrest of 37 workers at Mt Baker Roofing in Bellingham, WA. The arrests were part of an ongoing federal investigation into the unlawful employment of aliens without legal work authorization. ICE spokesperson David Yost confirmed that the individuals taken into custody are accused of submitting false documents or misrepresenting their immigration status.

These individuals are now being transported to the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma for processing. My Bellingham Now has made attempts to contact Mt Baker Roofing for their perspective but has not yet received a reply. This enforcement action follows the recent arrest of Alfredo “Lelo” Juarez Zeferino, a prominent farmworker activist, suggesting a broader pattern of immigration enforcement in the region. The situation raises significant questions about labor practices and immigration policy in the local economy. My Bellingham Now will continue to monitor developments as more information becomes available.
