Workers at Northwest Youth Services demand leadership firings

Bellingham, WALocal News

Northwest Youth Services employees are advocating for the removal of Interim Executive Director Lance Jones and Senior Director Daniel Pry, as articulated in a public letter supported by over half of the organization's staff. The six-page document details serious accusations, including a decline in staff wellbeing, quality of services, and trust with community partners. Employees, fearing retaliation, opted to remain anonymous, echoing concerns raised during the tenure of former CEO Jason McGill. Jones, who was tasked with stabilizing the organization, did not respond directly to the complaints but acknowledged ongoing challenges the nonprofit faces. The organization has been grappling with leadership instability, having cycled through multiple leaders since Riannon Bardsley’s retirement in 2019.

The letter also raises alarms about the sudden closure of the Skagit County facility, which staff claim has harmed local youth. Amidst these issues, the board's lack of accountability has been called into question, further complicating the organization's recovery efforts. As NWYS seeks to regain trust and stability, the future of its leadership remains uncertain.
