Annual Lake Whatcom meeting scheduled for April 2

The City of Bellingham is set to host its annual Lake Whatcom Joint Councils and Commissioners meeting on April 2 at 6:30 p. m. , inviting community members to engage in discussions around the preservation of Lake Whatcom. Local leaders, including representatives from the Bellingham City Council, Whatcom County Council, and the Lake Whatcom Water and Sewer District Board, will review the progress made under the 2020-2024 Work Plan. Topics of discussion will include water quality monitoring results, advancements toward phosphorus reduction goals, and investments in stormwater management.

County Council Chair Kaylee Galloway highlighted the importance of collaboration in restoring Lake Whatcom as a vital community resource. Additionally, City Councilmember Hannah Stone praised the sustained commitment among local agencies in improving water quality in the watershed.
