Deputies arrest man for allegedly firing gun near cemetery in road rage incident

On February 18, Whatcom County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a 47-year-old man from Puyallup in connection with a drive-by shooting near Woodlawn Cemetery. The incident unfolded around 10:15 p. m. when witnesses reported a driver discharging a firearm from his vehicle during a road rage confrontation. Deputies quickly located the suspect based on the witness descriptions and stopped his vehicle shortly after.

Upon investigation, they found an empty pistol holster on the driver and confirmed through a passenger that he had fired a handgun during the altercation. Witnesses stated that the driver had aggressively passed them and then aimed his pistol out of the window, firing towards the cemetery. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but a pistol and ammunition were discovered in the suspect's vehicle, along with a matching shell casing found on the road. The suspect was arrested for drive-by shooting and unlawful weapon handling and was booked into Whatcom County Jail around 11:45 p. m.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding road rage and firearm-related violence in the community.
