Sew Inspired Fabrics announces opening date for new Bellingham fabric store

Bellingham, WALocal News

Sew Inspired Fabrics will open in Bellingham, WA, on November 28, aiming to fill the gap left by JOANN's closure earlier this year. Located in Fairhaven, the store will cater to eco-conscious sewists and provide educational opportunities. Owner Robin Robertson, who has a background in environmental science, intends to address the lack of apparel fabric options between Seattle and the Canadian border. The store will offer a selection of natural fibers, recycled polyester, and dead stock fabric, as well as sewing classes for different skill levels. Robertson noted that Bellingham currently has several stores focused on quilting fabrics, creating a "textile desert" for apparel fabrics.

She hopes that her store will work with other local businesses to foster a creative community. My Bellingham Now previously reported that the nonprofit Ragfinery plans to reopen its doors before the end of the year. This initiative reflects a growing trend toward sustainable practices in the local fabric retail landscape.
