Bellingham, WALocal News

A public meet and greet for the finalists of Lynden's police chief position will take place on October 27 from 4:00 to 5:30 p. m. at the City Hall Annex Building. The city has shortlisted four candidates following the retirement of former chief Steve Taylor in August after nearly six years of service. The finalists are Jeremy Bos, Lieutenant of Operations for Lynden PD; James Miyashiro, Chief for Public Safety at the University of San Diego; Ronald Phillips, Administrative Sergeant with the Casselberry Police Department; and Tawsha Thompson, a detective with Lynden PD.

Each candidate will share a brief overview of their careers, after which community members can provide feedback. The selection process continues the following day with interviews and other activities scheduled for October 28. This event is significant as it allows community input in choosing their next police chief. The city aims to ensure that the new chief aligns with the community's needs and expectations. Engaging the public in this process reflects a commitment to transparency and accountability in law enforcement.
