City of Bellingham seeks community input in Bakerview Neighborhood Park Master Plan

Bellingham, WALocal News

The City of Bellingham is seeking community feedback on plans for a new park on E. Bakerview Road in the King Mountain Neighborhood. This 29-acre space will include nine acres of cleared hayfields alongside 20 acres of forest and wetlands, with two creeks enhancing the natural landscape. Approximately 7,800 residents in the King Mountain and nearby Meridian neighborhoods currently have no public parks, highlighting the need for recreational space. The city intends to develop a park, a trail network, stream restoration efforts, and new residential housing on the site.

To facilitate public engagement, a meeting will be held on October 23 from 5:30 to 7:30 p. m. at Bellingham Covenant Church. The city encourages residents to provide their input, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in the planning process. This initiative aims to enhance local amenities and improve the quality of life in the area.

For more information, residents are directed to the city's website.
