Whatcom County will begin mailing ballots to voters on October 15 for the upcoming elections, which will include local council races and a state constitutional amendment. Residents will also vote on 12 propositions developed by the county's Charter Review Commission, focusing on expanding the Port's commission and approving various levies and bonds. Voters can submit their ballots by mail or at designated secure ballot boxes, with a deadline of 8 p. m. on November 4 for drop-offs.

The Secretary of State's office warns that any ballots postmarked after election day will not be counted. Ferndale’s ballot drop box has been temporarily moved to the Pioneer Pavilion due to ongoing construction. This election cycle emphasizes increased local participation and decision-making.
