Overnight lane closures set for I-5 in Ferndale through Oct. 17

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will implement overnight lane closures on I-5 in Ferndale from October 12 to 17. The left lane of southbound I-5 will be closed from 8 p. m. to 6 a. m.

each night, while the left lane of northbound I-5 will close during the same hours on weekdays. This work is part of a significant project aimed at improving a 10-mile stretch of highway between Blaine and the Nooksack River. Crews will repave the road and install cable barriers to enhance safety and traffic flow. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to consider alternate routes or adjust travel plans accordingly. These enhancements are crucial for accommodating increasing traffic volumes and ensuring safer travel conditions.

WSDOT emphasizes the importance of these improvements for long-term infrastructure resilience. The project aligns with ongoing efforts to maintain and upgrade Washington's transportation network.
