Boundary Bay sign stolen from downtown Bellingham location, seeks community help

Bellingham, WALocal News

Boundary Bay Brewery in Bellingham, WA, is urgently seeking community support to recover a blue sign that reads "Bellingham's Backyard," stolen from their property last Saturday night. The brewery's closure is imminent, with its final day of operation set for September 30, marking the end of 30 years in business. Owners Ed Bennett and Janet Lightner are retiring as their lease expires, and the building will be listed for sale. Despite the closure, the brewery's legacy will live on, as Black Raven Brewery in Woodinville plans to produce some of Boundary Bay's best-selling ales. Walton Beverage will continue distributing the brewery's canned beers to its current customer base.

The community's involvement is crucial in returning the sign, with no questions asked for its safe return. Boundary Bay has been a local staple, contributing significantly to Bellingham's craft beer scene. The theft of the sign adds a poignant note to the brewery's farewell as it prepares to close its doors.
