Bellingham Technical College receives scholarship grant for parenting aerospace students
Bellingham Technical College has received an $80,000 grant aimed at providing scholarships for parenting students enrolled in aerospace programs. This funding is part of a larger $400,000 allocation from the state Board for Community and Technical Colleges to five institutions across Washington. The funds will specifically assist with childcare services, allowing these students to concentrate on their studies without the added stress of childcare logistics. Jennifer Dellinger, a policy associate at the State Board, noted that childcare remains a significant barrier to education for many students. By addressing this issue, BTC aims to enhance student retention and persistence in their academic pursuits.
The initiative reflects a broader commitment to improving educational access for families in the community. This scholarship program is expected to positively impact the local education landscape. Ultimately, the funds will support students as they navigate the challenges of balancing parenthood and education.
