Washington, other western states release vaccine recommendations ahead of flu season
A coalition of West Coast states has announced vaccine recommendations for the upcoming flu season, urging residents to receive the updated COVID-19 and influenza vaccines. Washington, which has issued a Standing Order for those six months and older to get the COVID-19 vaccine, continues to prioritize public health. The coalition also recommends the RSV vaccine for children under eight months and seniors over 75. Washington State Secretary of Health Dennis Worsham stated that vaccinations safeguard communities by reducing illness spread. The coalition includes governors from Washington, Oregon, California, and Hawaii, who have united against perceived politicization of health guidelines.
Their recommendations are based on insights from trusted medical organizations, emphasizing science, safety, and transparency. This initiative aims to bolster community health as flu season approaches. The push for vaccinations aligns with broader efforts to maintain public safety amid ongoing health challenges.
