Ferndale man in custody following crash on I-5, three people injured including one child

A Ferndale man, Victor Sweet, 40, is in custody following a serious crash on I-5 SB that injured three individuals, including a two-year-old child. The Washington State Patrol reported that Sweet was speeding late Sunday night near the Custer rest area when he struck another vehicle, sending it into the median. Emergency responders transported all three occupants of the second vehicle to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center for medical treatment. Sweet attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by law enforcement shortly after.

He faces several charges, including DUI and vehicular assault, reflecting the gravity of his actions. This incident raises significant concerns about reckless driving behavior on local highways.
