TRAFFIC Roadwork resumes on I-5 this week in Ferndale

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) resumes roadwork on I-5 in Ferndale following Labor Day weekend. Southbound traffic will be limited to one lane from 8 p. m. to 6 a. m.

starting Tuesday and continuing through Thursday morning. Crews will repave the roadway from the Custer rest area to Portal Way to enhance safety and driving conditions. Additionally, on Wednesday, northbound drivers should prepare for a left lane closure between 8 a. m. and 4 p.

m. as crews conduct guardrail repairs near the North Lake Samish exit. This construction aims to ensure safer travel for the thousands of commuters who use this route daily. WSDOT advises motorists to expect delays and plan alternative routes if necessary. Roadwork like this is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve state highways.
