Results from Whatcom Countys primary election certified by auditor

Bellingham, WALocal News

Whatcom County has certified the results of its primary election, with a turnout of just over 31% of registered voters. Elizabeth Boyle and Maya Morales will compete for the District 2 council seat in the general election scheduled for November 4. In District 3, former mayor Kyle Christensen will face Jessica Rienstra after incumbent Tyler Byrd was ousted. The election also features incumbent Ken Bell against Carly James for the Port of Bellingham Commissioner District 2 position. Voters decisively passed both levies for the rural library district and South Whatcom Fire Authority.

The approval of these levies indicates strong community support for local services. Ballots for the upcoming general election will be mailed out starting October 15. This election cycle reflects an active engagement of Whatcom County residents in local governance.
