Birch Bay residents invited to offer feedback on potential incorporation

Bellingham, WALocal News

Residents of Birch Bay can voice their opinions on the potential incorporation of their area into a city through a newly launched survey. Whatcom County aims to investigate the financial viability and impacts of this incorporation, with the survey closing on September 10. The county council approved funding for a feasibility study in summer 2024, marking the first detailed analysis since 2008. The Birch Bay Incorporation Association, a local advocacy group, leads the movement as the population grows. They will hold a barbecue at Birch Bay State Park on August 21 to provide updates and answer community questions regarding the incorporation study.

This initiative reflects a significant shift in local governance, as the area seeks to manage its public services more effectively. The need for improved services has become increasingly pressing as the community expands. Engaging residents in this process is crucial for understanding their priorities and concerns.
