Lynden man arrested after crashing car near I-5

A 19-year-old man from Lynden, WA, was arrested following a dramatic escape attempt that ended with his vehicle crashing into an embankment. Deputies from the Whatcom County Sheriff’s office observed him speeding on Slater Rd before he lost control on the I-5 on-ramp. After he refused to allow a search of his vehicle, deputies secured a warrant, and a K9 unit detected drugs inside. They recovered multiple baggies of suspected cocaine and a pair of brass knuckles from the car. The suspect was arrested on July 30 and released on personal recognizance on August 2.
