The key races will determine the candidates for multiple Whatcom County Council seats and a position on the Port of Bellingham’s Board of Commissioners. Additionally, voters will consider levies for both the county’s Rural Library District and the South Whatcom Fire Authority. Notably, some areas, including south Bellingham, will not have a ballot as there are no local issues to vote on. To ensure their votes count, residents must submit their ballots by 8 p.

m. on August 5. Voters can mail their ballots or drop them in designated ballot drop boxes across the county.
