A donation fund has been established to support the family of a critically injured Lummi Nation police officer following a shooting earlier this week. Managed by the tribe's Lhaq’temish Foundation, the fund aims to provide financial assistance during this challenging time. Community members can also attend a fundraising dinner at Syros Restaurant in Lynden this Monday from 4 to 8:30 p. m. , with all proceeds benefiting the officer's family.

The 37-year-old officer sustained multiple gunshot wounds while responding to a suspect incident involving a car crash. Sheriff Donnell Tanksley confirmed that the officer remains hospitalized after surgery and is in stable condition. The shooting has raised significant concern within the community, highlighting the dangers faced by law enforcement. Local officials are encouraging residents to support the officer's family as they navigate this difficult situation. The officer's identity has not been released to honor the family's wishes during this time of distress.
