Lummi Nation Officer shot, suspect at large

The officer approached a car that had driven into a ditch, whereupon the unidentified suspect opened fire and fled the scene. Local agencies responded by shutting down several roads to search for the suspect, who remains at large. The injured officer has undergone surgery, but their current condition remains unknown. In reaction to the shooting, the Lummi Indian Business Council will close its offices until further notice.

Lummi Nation Chair Anthony Hillaire stated, “Our hearts are heavy today,” emphasizing the need for community solidarity during this crisis.
