Xiaobun Zhou, a 55-year-old from California, faces charges in a fraud scheme that defrauded a local resident of over $100,000 in Whatcom County. His son, 30, was arrested after admitting to taking $20,000 from his father's residence during a recorded jail visit. Authorities believe this money is part of the stolen funds from the fraud case. The son was taken into custody on July 8 and released on bond two days later, with his arraignment set for July 18. Zhou, who was also released on July 8, has a trial scheduled for September.
