WSDOT crews to repair guardrails, repave ramps on I-5 starting next week

Bellingham, WALocal News

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will begin construction delays on I-5 in Whatcom County on Wednesday, July 16, at 8 p. m. Crews will repave a 10-mile stretch of roadway between Blaine and the Nooksack River in Ferndale. In addition to repaving, the project will include guardrail repairs and ramp repaving. Ramp detours will be conducted overnight to minimize disruption, although shoulder work could take place during daytime hours.

Local motorists should prepare for delays as WSDOT estimates the project will be finished by October. This construction reflects ongoing efforts to improve road safety and infrastructure in the area, addressing wear and tear on the highway. The project is expected to enhance driving conditions significantly, benefiting both residents and travelers. WSDOT emphasizes the importance of these upgrades for public safety and efficient transportation.
